I have had quite a few emails of congrats about the pregnancy, and although i haven’t got back to all of you yet, I will, but I have not been so good about getting back to the rest of social media, I truly apologize about that, but as you can imagine, things have been a little nuts. Thank you to all of you who have taken time of your day to congratulate us, it truly means so much.
If you email me though, you WILL get a response 🙂
Now, with said emails, I have had a lot of questions about what is going to happen here?
Running for Real became an official business just a few months ago, and I have been working really hard to build a wonderful community (mission accomplished through the superstars community, if you aren’t in there, come join us!) for runners to feel safe. A place to share, be real, and ask for advice…as we all know that no matter what level, speed, or experience you are, sometimes you need running friends to support you.
I have also been busy creating running products to help you with your running goals, things that I believe were actually important to my success.
I didn’t want to offer things that I couldn’t put my whole heart and belief into, which is why I am not offering personal coaching. At this point in my life, I don’t feel like that is where my strengths lie.
But I do have MY exact training schedule, just changed up a bit…cause you know, most people are not running 90 miles a week with a flexible schedule or training for a 2:3? marathon. Steve and I worked hard to create it, and so far the half marathon and marathon training program, completely effort based, are doing very well. You can learn more about that here.
Oh, and we have a 5k/10k plan completed, which will be available within a few weeks! We are very excited about this one, and I am not sure you will have seen anything like it, this is Steve’s favorite area, and lets just say this is perfected.
We offer a 40-50 mile per week, and 60-70 mile per week plan for all three of those areas, although I realized I kind of scared people off with the numbers.
When I say 40-50 miles per week, I mean that you will build UP to that range over the 15 week plan, and you can make your highest week be 40 miles per week (or 50, or anywhere in between). It is intentionally created with ranges to match the person who is following it. As long as you can run 25 miles per week, this plan will work for you.
You probably know that Strength Training is also something I am very passionate about when it comes to running injury free, and Drew and I offered our first round (well, technically second, if you include our wonderful beta group), so we now have 27 people following an individualized strength plan with Drew,
Our next round opens up August 1st if you would like to find out more, you can here. We are intentionally keeping numbers low to focus on quality and make sure we can actually give you a program that is tailored to YOU and your weaknesses and can give the support you need, as obviously, there are quite a few questions when Drew isn’t standing next to you for your strength training.
We have a payment plan option and a paid in full option, hopefully to fit your situation. They have different levels of support too.
Why am I telling you this now?
I thought this post was about the future…
Well, I realized I haven’t really said anything on my blog about these, and these are two things that will be continuing on over the coming years. These are two of the three most critical pieces of staying healthy and running well puzzle, and I mean that. Without them, I would not have avoided injuries (other than a few little niggles needing a few days off), for over two years, and now we are passing them on to you.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to update you on the coming months and years, I mentioned in my pregnancy post that sickness hit me hard for a while, and exhaustion is still holding me down to the couch a lot, meaning I cannot work on the third part of my trifecta of success, the mental side.
Now, you know Evie does offer individual mental coaching, and if you can, I would really recommend you take her up on it, but I am also working at something for you to take with you in workouts and races, and I am really excited about it…
If only I had the energy to actually follow through with the logistics of it.
I am hoping that the second trimester brings me a whole new burst of energy, which I have been told it does, and I can get going on that, but in the meantime, I am just focusing on the community, the All Stars (marathon and half marathon training plan members) and Strong Stars (strength training members).
The Running for Real podcast is growing steadily, although honestly, not as fast as I hoped it would have. I am getting a lot of good feedback, but just not getting shared as much as I thought it would. Especially when running articles come out with “best podcasts” it has yet to feature, not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if it just requires patience. It has, after all, been less than 3 months since I launched!
I currently have one sponsor per episode, but I am looking for a second, so if you know of a brand that is interested in podcast sponsorship, and has some marketing money to put aside towards it, let me know.
What is the plan over the remaining 6 months of pregnancy?
Well, you pretty much read it, focusing on the above, making them the best they can be, especially the strength training program. Drew and I have worked really hard on this, and we are really proud of what we have created.
And for the record, everyone who has done it, and really committed, has seen incredible shifts in not just their running, but the way they feel in their entire lives!
During the rest of the pregnancy, I intend on finishing up my mental toughness surprise (with the help of some of my other elite running buddies!), and getting things set up for once I am plus newborn.
I also have Running for Real apparel in the works; T-Shirts, hoodies, hats, tank tops with the logo on. I will be working with a local company here in Lexington, Underground Design, and I am really excited for them. I made sure to pick good materials that are comfortable and sweat wicking.
We have all had those running clothes that do not breathe well, yuck!
I will be doing some freelance writing. I have really been enjoying writing, and I feel like I have a unique perspective with my story and honesty, so looking forward to writing a little more in the coming months, continuing to tackle amenorrhea with those who need it.
Along with that, I will be offering one on one Skype consults for women going through Amenorrhea. I have had thousands reach out to me, who have been really brave and are taking the leap, but I know the support you need to get through this, and I feel like my email response is just never going to be enough to really get through it.
Starting in September, if you would like a skype consult for someone to talk to about your recovery from hypothalamic amenorrhea, I will be setting those up.
What is the plan for after the baby arrives?
Survive.
Seriously haha.
I know myself, and I will really struggle to not multitask while the baby is sleeping. I will be wanting to maximize productivity during those times by working, but I really want to make sure I embrace and appreciate those moments with my newborn as much as I possibly can, and I know the best chance of that is to nap when they nap, and just accept that I am taking a few months off of everything else.
In case you couldn’t tell from all the things I am working on above, I love this business, and I am just full of ideas of things I want to help with, things that really help me.
It will require a lot of willpower to let it go.
However, one thing I am determined to keep going is the podcast. I intend on getting myself 1-2 months ahead by the time I give birth, and then I have a cushion to squeeze episodes in when I can.
My goal is not miss a single episode.
This is all part of an ideal plan though, and I know in my heart that babies don’t care about plans, so we will see how much I am actually able to stick to this, and how much I have to just allow life to unfold.
So we will see what happens over the next 6 ish months, one thing I can say is that I am going to unplug while I am home. This is one of the last trips Steve and I really get to enjoy the time on our own with my family and friends, and I intend on making the most of it.
I will have a MONSTER amenorrhea post coming on the Monday before I leave, including everything I did to get my period back, and then everything else will go on hold for two weeks. Don’t worry, the podcast is ready to go with some great guests, including…..I convinced Steve to do another episode with me for the week of my birthday.
My friends, all I can say is thank you.
